      • What is Petrus?  

        PETRUS III is a project granted by European Commission within the Euratom program (7th Framework Program), whose objective is to promote Education and Training (E&T) in geological disposal of radioactive waste.   Since 2005 “PETRUS” initiative coordinates universities, radioactive waste management organisations, training providers and research institutes efforts to develop cooperative approach to E&T in the geological disposal. PETRUS proposes an innovative strategy to ensure the continuation, renewal and improvement of the professional skills by sharing resources from both academia and industries. The Consortium includes twenty one (21) representatives from twelve (12) different countries all over Europe.   The main objectives of the current project are: Practical implementation of an accredited training program following ECVET principals, leading to a recognized qualification in geological disposal Design and creation of a multidisciplinary training and research framework for PhD students Development of strategies for ensuring the sustainability of the PETRUS initiative.

      • About Petrus 2015 event:

        This unique event intends to bring together PhD students and young researchers, along with professionals and academics in radioactive waste disposal. The event is an opportunity for selected PhD students to present their works in all areas related to radioactive waste management and disposal. Special prizes will be awarded in both oral presentation and poster sessions. The program includes several plenary lectures presented by outstanding Professors highlighting strength and diversity of research and current topics.   The written and spoken language of the Conference is English.

        Participation in PETRUS PhD Conference is free of charge. Registration is open from 15th January to 12th June 2015.

      • Application Form

        Applicants for oral and poster presentation are requested to send an extended abstract (4-6 pages) for consideration and inclusion in the programme. Click here to download template. Abstract must be submitted in English. Application for oral presentation is open to students registered for PhD degree in an European institution, with at least two years (at the date of the conference) of research experience. Poster session is open to all research students and young professionals having research role in industry or in scientific organizations. A prize award ceremony will be held at the end of the Event. The best oral and poster presentations will be rewarded. Deadline to apply - May 29th, 2015

        Getting to Nancy   The easiest way to get to Nancy from Charles de Gaulle airport is to take the TGV Est (high speed train). You must go to the railway station located on Terminal 2, level 2 and take a train to Lorraine TGV station. It is compulsory to book your ticket (50 to 70€). You will find more information about booking, schedules and prices on this website : www.voyages-sncf.com   When you arrive at Lorraine TGV station, take the shuttle to Nancy (10€). Alternatively, you can get a train to Nancy from Gare de l’Est station. There are several ways to get to this station : By RER : Take the RER B from Charles de Gaulle Airport (direction «St Remy-lès-Chevreuse») and stop at «Gare du Nord». Then (using the same ticket), take the metro line 4 (direction «Mairie de Montrouge») or line 5 (direction «Place d’Italie») and Stop at «Gare de l’Est» station. By Bus : Take bus 350 (day bus) and stop at «Gare de l’Est» bus station (terminus). Or take bus Noctilien N140 or N143 (night buses) and stop at «Gare de l’Est» station. Once you are at the Gare de l’Est, take the TGV Est to Nancy.
